The Colorado Rockies have had a long and storied history with their wordmark logo, particularly in relation to the Colorado Rockies Primary logo. The first iteration of the logo was introduced in 1993 when the team joined Major League Baseball as an expansion franchise. This initial design featured a mountain silhouette, along with “Colorado Rockies” written in white cursive lettering on top of it. It also included two baseballs crossed over each other at the bottom right corner to signify that they were now part of MLB's National League West division.

In 2002, this original design underwent some changes to make it more modern and sleek looking for its 10th anniversary season celebration; most notably, the font changed from cursive to block letters which gave off a stronger sense of power and strength associated with professional sports teams today.
