Vandals Alternate Logo

Idaho Vandals fans are familiar with the traditional blue and gold of their beloved college team, but they may not be aware of the alternate logo history that has been part of Idaho’s identity since its inception.

The first alternate logo for Idaho was unveiled in 2002 and featured a “Vandal head” wearing a bandana. This design quickly became popular among students, alumni, and fans alike due to its boldness and simplicity. The original version was used until 2008 when it was replaced by an updated version featuring more detail in the face as well as an improved color scheme that better matched school colors.

In 2012, another new look debuted for Idaho – this one featuring two crossed tomahawks above a shield bearing University letters ‘I-D-A-H-O’ on top with a depiction of Kibbie Dome below it all set against a black background outlined in silver trimming. This unique take on their mascot struck quite the chord with diehard Vandals supporters who proudly wore shirts emblazoned with this logo around campus or at games throughout 2013 before eventually being phased out later that year when yet another redesign took center stage – this time introducing an intimidating snarling bear head representing both ferocity & strength while still capturing some elements from previous designs such as keeping similar lettering & color schemes intact.

Finally after several years without any changes to their brand identity (save for minor tweaks here & there), 2019 saw yet another update that sought to combine classic features from past logos into one cohesive image - bringing together parts like Kibbie Dome's silhouette along w/the iconic tomahawk crossing over each other within red stars reminiscent those found on state flags across America plus adding new touches like bolder outlines surrounding everything giving off strong vibes reminiscent military insignia. All these combined have made what is now known today simply put: "The Bear" - A timeless symbol meant to represent passion and dedication to every single person associated w/University of Idaho!
